Hampton Inn Newark Airport

I've been back here several times because it's clean, convenient, and the service is great. Sylvia in the kitchen was especially lovely, greeting guests with a smile, and the food was delicious. One breakfast suggestion: the tater tots don't hold up in the hotel pan and turn hard and dry. Every Hampton I visit seems to serve them. The hash browns, though, are great.

I’m glad to change this to five stars after the hotel responded quickly and fixed the problem without hesitation. Anyone can make a mistake at work, and what shaped my experience was how promptly and professionally they handled it. Happy New Year! For context, the room was clean and tidy, and the staff were genuinely kind and professional. My original one-star rating was about the billing, not the service. At checkout I saw charges for two nights even though I’d stayed one. The desk said one was a deposit hold, but that had already been taken earlier, and three charges were showing on my card. A few days later everything posted: the deposit was gone, but the extra night charge remained, confirming I’d been billed twice. Since I’m not based in the US, it was hard to reach the hotel, and my bank hadn’t resolved it either. I wasn’t sure how I’d get back the several hundred dollars I’d been overcharged.

We'd been traveling outside the country, and Silvia's breakfast service was such a nice welcome home. She had a tasty, hot buffet ready and greeted us with the warmest smile. She made the Hampton experience really pleasant.

The staff tried to help and were friendly, but I wouldn't stay here again. Getting anywhere requires a taxi or Uber: the airport isn't walkable, the hotel feels isolated, and there's nothing nearby. Inside, the room was gloomy, the fridge empty with no free water, and the air conditioning was extremely loud. I could still hear units from other rooms after turning mine off. The pillows swallowed my head and made sleeping hard. Overall, a disappointing stay despite the staff's efforts.
