Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

Andrew did a fantastic job managing the waterslide all day. He kept things fun for the kids while making sure everyone stayed safe. The splash pad and slide are great for all ages. We visited on Saturday, when the splash pad was open from 10 to 4. It was very hot, and the slide didn’t seem ready until closer to 11, so we waited, but the kids were happy in the pool in the meantime. The pool service was great too. Ava looked after us in the morning, then Julia took over in the afternoon. Both were friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed or overlooked. Entuit, the manager, was all over the resort checking on guests, helping staff, and rotating employees so people were taken care of. You could tell she cared about both her team and the guests. We had a relaxing, family friendly day at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach and will be back. The team clearly cares, and the amenities were great.

Makayla took great care of us at lunch on our first day, and her service set a lovely tone. Later, while we were eating in the lobby, Tersit greeted us warmly and surprised us with birthday cake. It was such a personal, thoughtful gesture. Juan from the restaurant was kind too, and offered us part of the pool cabana. The restaurant and valet teams were excellent. John at the front desk was fantastic, as were Zach, Gavin, Frank, Juan, and everyone whose names I may have missed. As a Hyatt employee, I’ve stayed at many Hyatt properties, but the hospitality here at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach stood out. I arrived and immediately felt welcomed and cared for like family, along with Rebecca. We used complimentary and gift certificate nights, and Olivia at the front desk started things off with a kind introduction and complimentary parking. Everyone we met was warm, and we felt valued as guests and part of the Hyatt family. Our room was wonderful, the amenity waiting for us was a thoughtful touch, and housekeeping was kind, attentive, and thorough. We can’t wait to return. And to the team, come visit us at The Shay!

There are lots of pools, and some stayed quiet even on the weekend. The location is convenient, with Fashion Island just down the road, beautiful Pelican Hill across from it, and a Starbucks and gas station nearby. It’s about 10 minutes from the beach. I usually stay with Marriott, but this place impressed me. The rooms were a decent size and very clean, and everyone we met, from housekeeping to valet, was engaging and nice. If you want a family friendly hotel with plenty of pools and excellent service, this is one of the best in Newport Beach. I’ll be back.

I came for a conference and booked a wheelchair accessible room with two beds. Instead, we checked in to a room with one king bed. My boss and I weren’t going to share a bed, but our request to move to another room went nowhere. I ended up on a completely uncomfortable rollaway for three nights, paying over $300 a night. The bathroom had a roll-in shower, which was great, except the water pressure was lousy.
