The little kindnesses are what made this stay memorable. A front desk employee remembered my earlier call asking about a military discount, then called our room after check-in just to thank my boyfriend for his service. That meant a lot to us. The staff also booked us on the spot and surprised us with a free upgrade to an ocean-view room. We'd had a terrible night at another hotel, so I rarely write reviews but had to mention how good this experience was. My boyfriend is in the military. There wasn't a specific military rate, but we were told the walk-in price was cheaper than booking online, so we stopped by. From the moment we walked in, everyone was welcoming. The room came with thoughtful beach gear: a Stanley cooler, beach bag, chairs, games, electrolytes, and more. It made our beach day much easier. We also got drinks at the café downstairs, and the matcha was amazing. Service throughout was outstanding. The attention and genuine kindness were unforgettable. We'd absolutely stay again and recommend the hotel.

Tasha at the front counter made our 30th anniversary getaway so memorable. I was surprising my wife, and Tasha arranged a flower delivery and had the flowers waiting in our room. The valet was on point too, and the staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived. The building has a fun, inviting 50’s vibe outside. Our room felt new and was nicely appointed, and the rooftop fire pits with their 360-degree views were a great way to end the night. Breakfast from the café was delicious, and the coffee was really, really good. Thanks to everyone for a great time.

Being a block from the beach and right in the heart of Balboa made getting around easy. We walked everywhere and took the complimentary bikes around the island, which made the trip feel effortless and fun. My wife and I had an incredible stay at Bay Shores Hotel, easily a 10-star experience for us. The thoughtful beach gear was a big part of it: a tote bag, towels, chairs, and a Stanley cooler. We packed lunch and spent full days by the ocean without any hassle. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the start, and you can tell they care about guests. We left relaxed and already talking about coming back. Highly, highly recommend!

Parking is expensive at $50 a day, so I'd look for somewhere else if possible. That's my only complaint. The beach is a very short walk away, and the hotel lends out beach cruiser bikes, chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and a cart to carry it all. There's also a beach bag and two towels in the room. The decor and amenities are unmatched, stylish but still cozy and relaxing. The café downstairs is 10/10 if you like matcha or coffee, and it has breakfast sandwiches and plenty of pastries. Everyone was so kind, and I'd love to come back. They also offer flex pay options if needed. 10/10, would recommend!

We can't wait to return to the Bay Shores Peninsula Hotel. The renovation is gorgeous, and our room was lovely and comfortable. Having bikes, chairs, umbrellas, and a beach bag readily available made vacationing so easy. Everyone was fantastic, especially Tasha and Andrew, who were a delight.
