Harbor Base Pineapple Inn

This was an affordable, convenient place to stay in Newport for a wedding. The room and bathroom were clean, the heater worked great, and the bed was comfortable. I judged it as a basic motel in a very expensive town. It's not a four-star hotel, but it earns four stars for what it is.

I’d paid for the room weeks ahead, but check-in still turned into a mess. I arrived at 2, an hour early, and was told to return at 3, which was fine. At exactly 3 my room still wasn’t ready, and they said it could be another hour. Three other people checked in after me and got rooms right away. When I asked the woman about it, she gave me an attitude. I would’ve booked somewhere nearby for the same price if I could have. Good luck if you stay here.

The place is a little dated, but the beds were soft and everything in the room, including the sheets, was clean. Prices were good and the front desk staff was awesome. It’s close to the fishing boats, too. I’ll definitely stay again. A+++++

The credit was denied too, even though they wouldn’t let me check in. Amazing. I booked and paid online through a third party, and they never told me check-in ended at 11:00pm. I showed up at 11:15 and the 21-year-old at the front desk scolded me, saying it was my responsibility. I wasn’t taking that blame. “For future bookings...” What future bookings? I wouldn’t stay here if the rooms were FREE and The Foo Fighters were playing in the parking lot. They’d rather lecture someone than let them into a room they’ve already paid for. Last time I book through a third party.
