The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina

The location is amazing, but the rooms feel like 1998 and are outdated. The bathrooms and showers are gross, and the rooms have tiny first generation flatscreen TVs with basic cable. For what you get, it’s extremely overpriced. I wish we’d paid more to stay somewhere else.

Something went wrong with my boat slip reservation at Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. I thought it had been cancelled on my end, though it may have been an issue between me and the reservations system, or maybe between me and my chair to keyboard interface. The hotel still had me down as arriving. Camden called and sorted everything out quickly and professionally. He was courteous and efficient, and made a potentially stressful mix-up easy to deal with. Great communication and service from Camden and the team at Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. Highly recommend.

10/25. The location is what earned the 5* from me: it’s right among the shops and restaurants, which was ideal for the last 2 nights of our NE bus tour. We had two small double beds in a room facing the street. The bathroom was tiny, and there were no hooks for washcloths or hand towels at the pedestal sink. The bar out back had live music Saturday night but was closed by 9:00 on Sunday. I’d probably choose this place again if I came back to the area.

For the room itself, I’d look elsewhere. It was underwhelming and dated, though pretty clean, and at this price I could have stayed cheaper in Middletown. But the location is hard to beat, with everything in downtown Newport within walking distance, so I would recommend booking if that’s your priority. I was charged $35 for parking, which was supposed to be free starting Nov 1. I’m still waiting for the refund and an itemized receipt from the hotel.
