Derby Inn & Suites

I have stayed here many times and loved it each time. The rooms and the rest of the hotel could use some work, but for the most part it's a great place now. Pam, the general manager, is amazing. She goes above and beyond, works 24/7 without days off, and doesn't get paid for all that time. She's even provided things for the hotel with her own money and hasn't been reimbursed. Last night, when I came to get a room, I saw Pam pull into the hotel. I think the owner came over to her car, yelled at her, and threatened to call the police if she came back. He also wouldn't let her get her things from her room. How can you tell someone who's worked for you more than three years and become general manager that she can't return? The owner, Mike, has also treated other guests badly, and I don't understand how the place is still open. There are no smoke detectors, and he is very against gay people. A gay friend of mine was given a job, then told to pack up and leave because he owed a balance. As far as I know, no other man or woman with an unpaid balance was asked to leave, only my friend because he is gay. I'd rethink staying here and choose a better hotel. Mike is a terrible person, and the hotel really should be shut down.

I have a lot of complaints. Pam was very unprofessional with me and my men, and I heard and smelled her smoking weed. None of the outlets worked. The Damial guy said they were remodeling, but he acted strangely, almost creepily, like he might be on something. I can't be sure. The people here are rude as hell. Don't waste your money.

This place is a death trap. In the first-floor corridor, wire joints and wire nuts hang from the ceiling, and by the front door the fire alarm is loose, with a wire stretched all the way across the lobby. My room had no working smoke detector. They need to shut this place down.

I had to find another hotel and was still charged for a room. There was nobody available to check me in, just a number to call, and after 13 tries with no answer I gave up. In the lobby, wires were hanging across the ceiling, and in the hallway there were wires dangling through holes. No smoke detectors either. This place needs to be reported and shut down.
