I paid for seven days but left after six because I couldn’t take the smell any longer. There was a constant marijuana stench in the room, and the heater didn’t work. Half the lamps were out, the Wi-Fi worked only some of the time, and there wasn’t an iron for business travelers. Housekeeping banged on the door even with the “DO NOT DISTURB” sign up. The red carpet was gray with dust in the corners. The “clean” washcloth and shower had strangers’ pubic hairs, and there was dried vomit on the bed liner. Neighbors yelled and swore until 5 a.m. I could go on. This felt like one of those places where people live because they can’t get approved for an apartment. One woman left dirty diapers outside her door for housekeeping to collect every couple of days. Kids ran around making noise, and I felt bad for them because their parents shouted and cursed at each other all night. Management didn’t care when I complained and said I couldn’t get a refund without paying them more money. They never offered to help with any of the problems.

The only good thing was the location, close to the plaza and restaurants, and I didn’t see any bugs. Everything else was nasty and outdated. The carpet was filthy, the tub had black stains, and the toilet ran all night. The walls are paper thin. The free breakfast was a joke, just two kinds of dry cereal, watered-down OJ, and one pot of coffee.

We stayed for about a month. It’s an older hotel, but it’s well kept, and the staff are always courteous and go out of their way to make the stay pleasant. They were quick to handle repairs and sort out any problems. The manager even ran a wired internet line so I could keep working from home. It’s minutes from the beach and lots of shopping, and the price is very reasonable. I’d recommend it.

The air conditioning felt heavenly in the summer heat, and the hotel was pretty comfortable. Management were kind and courteous, and brought us extra towels and toiletries whenever we needed them. It was a pleasant stay.
