The Porches Inn at Mass MoCA

Porches made a beautiful, relaxing setting for our wedding weekend in October. We used it for our wedding block, got ready there, and had our first look and private vows on the property. Our two-bedroom suite gave the wedding party plenty of space to get ready, and having two bathrooms was key. There was lots of natural light for hair and makeup, plus room to unwind after the excitement. We especially enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub after the big day. Everyone we worked with was fantastic. Sunny and Mel answered so many questions and were a great help with sharing the guest list. We were so happy to include Porches in the weekend and can’t wait to visit again.

The room was extremely loud because the walls are paper thin. We could clearly hear people in adjoining rooms moving around, and even people walking past made the decorative plates on our wall vibrate with an annoying high pitch. Every time we moved in the room, it happened too. It drove us nuts! For a higher-end place, soft-close toilet seats seem like an easy, cheap fix. They didn’t have them.

We felt pampered during our two nights at The Porches, but the place never felt fussy or formal. The staff were helpful and friendly from check-in to check-out, and the pool, hot tub, and sauna were lovely. We stayed in a suite with a comfortable bed, armchair, and couch, along with an eclectic mix of furniture, lamps, art, and little tables and chairs that seemed to have history, like tag-sale finds. The bathroom was gorgeous, with a jetted tub and a roomy shower stall with a rain shower head. There were lots of pegs for towels and wet bathing suits. The “continental” breakfast was really a full buffet, with breads, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cheese, lox, and more. We really enjoyed staying here and will be back.

I enjoyed another stay at The Porches. The breakfast was included, and I especially liked the grapefruit and grapefruit spoons. As a return guest, I had a welcome note and yummy cookies waiting for me. I also liked the bathrobes, comfy chair and ottoman, and amazing shower. There were lots of TV channels with a channel guide, and the retro kitschy decorations, or “granny chic,” were fun. It’s easy to walk to town and MassMOCA. Thanks for a great stay!
