Rodeway Inn

The room was fine for a night, but checkout was a terrible experience. I booked through Expedia, told them I’d have my dog, paid over the phone, and was told about the $25 pet fee, which was fine. After I checked in and spent the night with my dog, they called at 8 a.m. and woke me up to come to the office. An older woman at the desk said I hadn’t paid and owed her $25. I said I thought I’d already been charged, but could pay then. She accused me of not having paid and demanded cash. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional, the worst customer service I’ve had. I won’t return because of her.

For the price, the bed and pillows are comfortable, and there’s coffee and tea available around the clock, though no breakfast. The front desk staff were incredibly nice and seemed genuine. The place is pretty outdated and not very clean, and some of the other guests left a lot to be desired. It is what it is. If you’re drunk or just need somewhere to crash, it beats your friend’s couch.

The room was lovely and spacious, and the bathroom looked recently renovated. The corridors were another story, poorly lit, scary, and confusing. Elevator directions appeared on only one or two signs, rather than on signs sticking out along the hallway. I only had time to pack clothes, so I asked the front desk for toiletries. There was a bar of hand soap and two shampoos in the bathroom. They found me conditioner, but the night staff said they had no toothpaste, and the man simply handed me a toothbrush. The morning staff were great, though. They kept a pillow I’d accidentally left off to the side until I could come back for it.

No one answered the phone, which caused trouble with our reservation, and parking was limited. Most of the staff were helpful, though, and thanks to the new guy. The room met the basic expectations of a clean bed and bathroom, and the kitchenette seemed fine, but the refrigerator didn’t work and smelled odd. The interior was a little dated, but for the price it was worth it.
