Hyatt Place Charleston Airport/Convention Center

The location was the best part, close to all the amenities. We spent 3 days in Charleston and stayed two nights at Hyatt Place Charleston Airport, booking online and checking in when we arrived. The room had plenty of space and the two queen beds were good. Breakfast was really good and kept us going through the day. The hotel seemed a bit old, especially the lift. There was no sink in the bathroom, it was outside, and the power outlets weren’t near the bed. Still, it was a pretty good stay aside from those small issues.

Conveniently located by the Convention Center, Tanger Outlets, and more, and the service was good apart from my housekeeping request being ignored. The rooms felt dated, which seems to be common with Hyatt. I’d return, but basic housekeeping requests should be handled during operating hours, or staff should say if they can’t do it. I’d also like a non-pork meat option for guests and a lemon or fruit juice squeezer so the bartender doesn’t have to press fruit by hand.

The staff were the bright spot, from reception to the kitchen and housekeeping. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The location was handy for the airport and an outlet, and being able to print our flight tickets at the hotel was great. The place is adequate for a pleasant stay, even if it isn’t perfect. Our room was spacious, but the AC was a bit loud and a gap under the door let hallway sounds through clearly. Cleanliness could be better too, with visible stains on the sofa and elsewhere.

I was going to visit a friend and ask about a room, but a sign on the door at 2:00pm on a Sunday said guests needed a key to enter the lobby, so I turned around without seeing anything else. I can understand that rule between 11pm and 6am for safety, but early afternoon on a busy Sunday doesn’t seem convenient for current or potential guests.
