Comfort Inn & Suites North East

I've stayed twice while visiting family, and both visits were good, so I was surprised by the poor reviews. My room was super quiet, and the staff were accommodating. The hotel seems renovated, with new paint and furniture, and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. The beds and linens were so comfortable I felt at home. Inside, it was quiet with no loud guests, and the rooms smelled fresh and smoke free. I did notice a marijuana odor by the inner side entrance where people smoke outside. For the price, it's hard to beat. I'd ask for the quiet side, away from I-95 noise. I was given a very quiet room.

The staff were fairly nice, but there were a lot of problems in the room. The floors were dirty, the ice bucket wasn't clean, and I found lotion residue by the sink and a few hairs in the shower. Only one of our two keys worked. The door stop that keeps the door from opening was nearly coming off the wall, and the toilet paper holder was barely hanging on.

The complimentary breakfast was delicious and a really nice extra. The staff were lovely, and the room was clean with all the amenities I could need. A great place to stay.

The room wasn't ready until 40 minutes after check-in, even though I'd booked and paid through booking.com. At the desk, Maria questioned me about my service animal and what my disability was, which they shouldn't be asking. Then I found she'd charged my debit card for the room a second time. I went back to the lobby and called her about the duplicate charge. She seemed unconcerned when I explained I was 12 hours from home and urgently needed the money returned. She eventually said she'd “try” to reach the manager and let me know. An hour or two later the charge was fixed, but she never called or apologized for the mistake. It felt rude and unprofessional. We also requested towels and trash service, but didn't get them on two of our four days. One key had to be reset twice as well. I won't stay here again.
