Hyatt Vacation Club at High Sierra Lodge, Lake Tahoe

The rentals, the snow, and the nearby eateries were all amazing. At night, a bobcat walked across our patio, which was scary! I told the desk clerk, who wasn’t bothered at all and wondered if something had happened to it, since they hadn’t seen or heard it on the grounds for a few weeks.

This was a timeshare stay, so I don’t know the nightly rate. We were close to almost everything we wanted to do, and I really liked the surroundings and the room amenities. They provided plenty of convenience items, and our top-floor room was extremely quiet. I never heard the neighbors, which matters a lot to me. I can’t speak to the issues in other negative reviews, but avoid the scam casino. There’s no winning there.

The location was a big plus, close to Raley's grocery store and local restaurants. During the Christmas week of 2025, when we visited, this area luckily didn’t get as heavily snowed in as the Northstar ski resort area or Truckee. The rooms and living room are huge, with lots of space. There’s a gas fireplace, plus a quiet dishwasher and washer and dryer. One note for heavy snow: according to the inspection, on regular tires you need Snow Socks rather than Snow Chains to travel to Northstar and Truckee.

The room itself was nice, but everything was really pricey. I paid $1500 for TWO nights in a one-bedroom, then got charged for the crappy little water bottles in the room, even though they were empty and I thought they were free. Why weren’t the prices marked? Most nights there weren’t enough card dealers to get a Texas hold em poker table going downstairs either.
