The room was filthy and smelled awful from the moment we walked in. There was a musky, moldy mildew odor that made us gag, along with a urine smell. The floors hadn’t been swept or mopped, urine was all over the toilet and down its sides, and the bathtub was gross. The shower curtain was stained, the couch was dirty, and the tables and TV stands hadn’t been wiped. There were weed pieces in a bedroom drawer, and the mirrors and TV were smudged. The bedding was wet and stained, and the bedroom floor was wet from a leaking vent. They wouldn’t refund us or move us to another room. They said they couldn’t deal with the bedding until the next day, so we were expected to spend the first night without proper bedding. They offered to reimburse us if we bought cleaning supplies and said they could send someone to clean, but not until the next day. We ended up spending $120 on bedding during our first night of vacation and didn’t even want to sit down in the room. I woke up the first morning with a sore throat, which I assume was from breathing in all that mildew. This was through Elliot rentals, in rooms tower one rooms 306/806. Horrible experience, the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Do not recommend unless you want to breathe mold and smell someone’s urine.
We stayed in 1004, right beside the elevator, so the noise from people getting on and off was constant and loud. The room was poorly cleaned, with stains on the side of the bed and badly stained dining chairs. Our feet stayed black all week and were full of sand. It remained warm no matter what the thermostat said, and the humidity was extremely high. We kept emptying water from the dehumidifier, which also needs a new filter. Nobody told us that an outdoor pool, two hot tubs, and the indoor lazy river were closed for some reason.
The resort was clean and well-maintained, with bright, comfortable, well-stocked rooms. The beds and pillows were among the most comfortable I’ve seen in a hotel or condo, and the showers had excellent pressure and temperature. The outdoor areas and amenities were tidy and welcoming. We’d stay again for a similar trip to the Myrtle Beach area, and the only reason for four stars is the check-in confusion with Vacasa, the front desk, and housekeeping. On check-in day, Vacasa messaged that our condo was ready for early arrival. But at the property, the front desk wouldn’t let us in because the housekeeping supervisor still needed to inspect it. A room you can’t enter isn’t ready for check-in. We waited about 30 minutes in the lobby with our things on carts before the supervisor finally checked the room. Getting inaccurate early check-in information was an unpleasant surprise, and clearer communication between Vacasa and the property would have prevented it.
We visited my sister for a week in November and had sunny weather every day, with very few people on the clean, lovely beach. It stretched for at least five miles in both directions, and we saw dolphins from our window every day. The seas were calm; though cold, we did swim a little, and playing Bocce on the beach several times was awesome. The hotel is getting older, but the staff have kept it up, everything worked, and the elevators were excellent. Our room was nice with stunning sunrise views. Pools and hot tubs were wonderful, and there was plenty of dining and shopping a short drive up or down 17. We were very happy with our stay.
The balcony view was breathtaking, and the pristine beach was just steps away. Baywatch was a wonderful resort, with indoor and outdoor pools, two lazy rivers, outdoor rinse-off showers by the gates, an in-house eatery, and an ice cream shop. Our suite, rented through Big Fish Rentals, was immaculate and had plenty of room for us and three kids. It came with en-suite laundry, a full kitchen, pull-out sofa, Murphy bed, and a large private bedroom with a king bed. The linens were clean and super comfortable. The location was great, just north of the busy Myrtle city center but still close to everything. I highly recommend it!
