Best Western Ocean Sands Beach Resort

The location in north myrtle beach and the oceanfront were both perfect, and I enjoyed the lazy river, tiki bar, and having the beach right there. Still, for the peak-season price, I wouldn’t come back. The rooms looked different in person than they did on the website, were very dated, and only somewhat clean. The carpet was ugly and smelled, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and there were stains on the bathroom wall that were hard to explain. The curved shower rod meant I couldn’t keep the curtain in place. Parking was free but inconvenient: paved spots were a plus if you got one, while overflow parking was on a mix of grass and dirt. Breakfast was free, but don’t expect much quality or to leave full. The guests next door kept slamming doors late at night. When I called the front desk, they said they’d come take a look, but apparently never did, because the noise continued. My experience was okay, but it wasn’t worth the money to me. No second visit. We wanted a beachfront room for one night, and the view was beautiful. This is a cozy little hotel, even though the outside doesn’t look great. The breakfast was very good, with someone there to serve it, but parking was hectic. It was our first stay, and we might come back if we need somewhere in the area. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and they were putting in new beds. We chose a room with a kitchenette hoping to make a good home-cooked meal, but the kitchen was tiny and could have been cleaner, so we washed everything before using it. The rooms and property need updating. If they do that, the place would be much nicer, and we might stay a week or two next time. Hopefully it’ll be updated by next year.

The best part is that this hotel is right on the ocean. Some things need fixing and renovating, though. Anna, one of the maids, is fantastic. All the maids are good, but she really stands out from staff at other hotels. She’s amazing, so please give her a raise. If you also take care of a couple of the other things, we’ll come back and stay again.

Our room smelled awful, like mold and funk, and the sheets were stained. The sink never drained during the whole week. There wasn’t a remote in the room, and it took room service over an hour to bring one. I also read reviews saying the owner gaslit guests into deleting their reviews and didn’t believe them. HORRIBLE experience. I won’t be back.
