Castaway Beach Inn & Swim Up Bar

The location right by the beach was nice, and the front desk woman was so welcoming. I also spoke briefly with a housekeeper, who was very nice. The staff, pool area, and beachfront location were the good parts. The rooms need a lot of work. They’re run-down and old, with kitchen cabinets falling apart, hard and uncomfortable beds, and stained sheets. The walls need paint, the carpets need cleaning or replacing, and the bathroom needs updating. Some floor tiles are missing and there are holes in the walls. Parking is tight and limited.

The Beach Bar setup is actually nice, and the beds are comfortable. The walls are solid, so the room was quiet. The visitors seemed like decent working-class people. You get what you pay for. The rooms are dated, the carpet feels nasty, and the air-conditioning filters need changing because there’s a stale smell.

The location is the one good thing, and it’s why I gave this two stars. After waiting ten minutes for my key card to work, we got to a room that felt like a poor excuse for a hotel. The bathroom is small, the carpet was dirty and wet, and the cupboards were dirty too. The beds were stiff and springy, and the parking amenities were horrible. Taking a shower seems pointless when you’ll walk right out of the tub. I’m not impressed. Honestly, I wish we’d spent the extra $2,000 for a half-decent room. This is awful.

The best part of the whole place was the bar. There was also a really nice housekeeper who took good care of us the entire time and brought plenty of towels or whatever we needed. I wish I could remember her name. The rooms were horrible, musty, dirty, and full of insects. We cleaned and sprayed the room ourselves. This place is a dump and is legitimately falling apart. If you don’t care about clean rooms or good customer service, this is the shack for you. We asked on day two for batteries for the remote, then waited seven days for maintenance, but they never brought any, so we bought our own. The price was okay, but could’ve been better for the condition of the hotel. We’ll try somewhere else next time.
