The beach view was spectacular, and it wasn’t crowded. The condo was quiet, clean, and beautifully decorated, and the building didn’t feel congested. We stayed on the sixth floor August 4-10, and I honestly could have lived there. People in the building were welcoming and very nice. My boyfriend’s mom said this was the first place where she felt comfortable walking outside at night. It’s pet friendly and allows big dogs, which was a relief. The pool was clean, and although there’s no front desk, the woman we reached at the number on the paper was really helpful. Having a washer and dryer meant we didn’t need to pack as many clothes. There was also a vacuum and Swiffer for cleaning up sand. Even after the outdoor shower, some sand came in, so we took our shoes off at the door. Next time I’d bring a bucket to rinse our feet there. The showers were spacious and nice looking, but I didn’t care for the shower heads. I wish they were removable for easier cleaning, and the water pressure wasn’t great. The elevator was another drawback. It got so hot that I’d sweat just going between the ground and sixth floors, and I wish it had air conditioning or a fan. Its doors close fast and won’t reopen for people getting on or off, so hold the button or brace the door, and move quickly.
I’ve rented here for three years and come down with my family every year. This year, four more relatives rented condos in the same building, but I’ve never felt this uncomfortable staying anywhere. Neighbors who live here took pictures of my family and me on our deck, knocked on our door to harass me about smoking, and then tried to have us removed because she smelled smoke. I smelled it too, but it wasn’t coming from my balcony. They kept taking pictures and calling the owners. I’m cutting the vacation short. I came to get away, not to be harassed.
The older complex has no front desk, but I found it comfortable, and my unit was nicely decorated and well stocked. I’d suggest adding blackout curtains in the bedrooms because the tall building next door has bright lights on all night. We also needed instructions for the TVs and Alexa. We could only get one of the four TVs working, and Alexa never connected, even after friends with computer and tech careers tried.
This is a family oriented place in North Myrtle Beach, with just 24 units, four on each of six floors. There’s a ramp and an elevator, and the corner units have more than one balcony. Units ending in 01 or 04 are the corners. Most have been updated, though some more than others. Two dogs under 35 pounds are allowed per unit. Retreat Myrtle Beach handles rentals and is very helpful. If something comes up, they do their best to take care of it. The property is non-smoking, and smoking isn’t allowed anywhere on the premises.
We booked for the week before Labor Day and were glad we did, since lots of people were coming down. With COVID, that had me a little concerned, but we had a great week. The beach was great, my daughter made a friend, and there were some great places to eat. We loved staying here.
