Hartford Motor Inn

Our Memorial weekend trip was rained out, but the weather didn't affect the room. The beach access path is right across the street, so the location is good. The room might feel small, but who comes to spend all their time in the room? The bed gives a bit, so be ready for that. Our Airbnb host was great and very accommodating, which we appreciated.

We stayed June 15-18, and the room was a disaster after 10 teenagers had been there the night before. They spent two hours cleaning before we arrived, but it still wasn't clean: greasy doorknobs and beer bottle caps on the floor when we opened the pullout couch. We found hypodermic needles in a kitchen drawer and pills in a bedroom drawer. The one-bedroom had no air conditioning, just a machine that needed ice water to cool it. The mattresses felt as thin as County Jail ones, and the spare bedroom was too hot, so my husband and I tried the pullout couch. It broke in half when I got up to use the bathroom; I fell, and he got wedged between the couch and mattress. We ended up sleeping on the floor. The TVs didn't work either. The woman who came to show us how to use them couldn't get them to work properly and wasn't professional. She opened the door without knocking, then said she'd forgotten to knock and shrugged it off. We told the person in charge about all this around 10 on Saturday night. On Sunday, they shocked the pool around 9 a.m., so the kids had to wait three hours to swim even though the pool was meant to open at 9. The whole thing was ridiculous. There was no apology or compensation. The owner was supposed to come talk to us that afternoon, but nobody showed. Before we left, the office woman said the owner would decide whether to compensate us next month. What a joke. I've never had such a bad experience and wouldn't recommend this to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Keep the money, lesson learned.

I had just lost my home and needed somewhere to stay. Other hotels were booked or too expensive, and my sister connected me with the owner, Gina. She was so kind and understanding, and helped me far more than I expected. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and I felt more welcome there than anywhere else. It felt like home. The staff were friendly and always checked if we needed anything, and the service was excellent. The Hartford inn is family oriented and has a homey feel. Gina and her family and staff, I appreciate everything you did for me, my husband, and my family. I love you all and will always recommend your place. Let me know if I can ever help you.
