La Dolce Vita Villas

The villa was extremely clean when my husband, daughter, dog Daisy, and I arrived for our weeklong stay. The owners went above and beyond and made it feel almost like staying with family. We were so glad to find a place that welcomes Daisy. There were no issues, the neighbors were friendly, and there was no partying or excessive noise. Dog people are great. Thanks for everything!

Angela made us feel welcome and pointed us toward good local places to eat and go, with coupon books for entertainment and food. Our group was my boyfriend, me, and our three kids, and we had a great stay in the one-bedroom apartment. It had two queen beds, a pullout couch, a full fridge and stove, plenty of kitchen supplies, a roomy bathroom, and cable and Wi-Fi. The kids enjoyed the pool, and the place stayed quiet. There’s a private walkway straight across the street to the Myrtle Beach shore. The air conditioning worked really well, too. Small and friendly suited us much better than a big, fancy place. The hospitality was wonderful, and we’d happily come back on our next trip.

We’d absolutely stay here again. The dogs had a grassy spot to stretch their legs, and the beach is only about a minute’s walk across the street. Even though several guests had dogs, we never heard barking, and our room was spotless with no hair or animal smell. It’s pet friendly without feeling that way in the room. Parking was pretty tight, though there’s a public garage right next door if you’re bringing more than one car.

The beach access across the street was a great location perk, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We spent four nights, and I never saw a worker. The place felt poorly cleaned: old food and trash were under the couch and bed, the fridge and freezer were filthy, there were other guests’ belongings left behind, and the bathroom paint was peeling badly. There was mold in the A/C vents, though I was told it was rust. After the unit broke, the replacement was too small for the existing opening, leaving a gap you could see outdoors through. The keypad jammed and took around five minutes to get us inside. The TV remote batteries were dead on arrival and replaced the next day, while the smoke alarm batteries kept dying and beeping. Shower pressure was awful, hot water was scarce, and broken blinds left the room visible from outside. On the Fourth of July, beachgoers filled the parking spaces to watch fireworks, so we had to park about a mile away and walk back with a baby and a five-year-old. The non-emergency line said it was private property and to contact the owner. The host said nothing could be done. I raised some of these problems, but it felt pointless since there didn’t seem to be anyone working there. They offered a 15% refund, which didn’t make the price feel worthwhile. I have photos and plan to report it to Airbnb. I wouldn’t stay again. Don’t waste your money.
