Malibu Pointe - 1004 - 3 Br Condo

The condo my parents rent is roomy and in good shape, with three bedrooms and a bathroom for each. They’ve stayed here for the last three years, usually on the ninth floor. The price is affordable for a spot across from the beach with decent access. The view is blocked, but you can see both sunrise and sunset from the balcony. The building is old, and the pool and hot tub are about shot.

Easy to get in and out, and the place was clean and comfortable. A good value for the cost.

The place was filthy and needs a major deep clean and renovation. The floors looked like they hadn’t been mopped or shampooed in years, and the linens were dirty and unwashed. The bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned either, with pee left behind from a previous stay. The fridge was dirty when we arrived, there were no pots or pans, trash bags, or hand soap, and the furniture was broken. In one room, the shower and sink were clogged and wouldn’t drain, so you had to stand in dirty water just to wash. The breaker tripped when the lights were turned on in another room. It’s outdated and absolutely disgusting.

Our July 1-8, 2017 stay at Malibu Pointe was so good that I never even touched the sand, my first Myrtle Beach trip like that. We were on the second row rather than oceanfront, but the view from condo 1105 on the 11th floor was gorgeous, maybe even better than some oceanfront units. The condo was spacious, very clean when we arrived, and every bedroom had its own bathroom. Outside there’s an indoor pool, a hot tub, an outdoor pool that leads to the lazy pool, mostly shaded with enough sun to enjoy. For larger vehicles, there are 7-8 special ground floor parking spots, useful if you have cargo on top like we did. The deck clearance is 6'8". We loved it and might return in fall or winter if we decide to spend Thanksgiving there. Give it a try!
