Sea Cabin by Elliott Beach Rentals

It was quiet and fairly clean, but that was about all I liked. The building needs serious repairs and updating. We were moved into this unit at the last minute instead of the one we’d originally booked, with little choice. The garbage disposal was jammed, the patio door was so worn it took almost Hercules-like effort to open, and the cold knob on the master shower didn’t work, so we had to take turns using the main bathroom to shower. The main bath sink was basically clogged, the kitchen sink was very loose, and the whole place needed paint. Rusty, worn door hardware wouldn’t latch on the master bedroom. Most window seals seemed bad and were cloudy, though I don’t know if windows are the condo’s responsibility. As a replacement for our original reservation, it was dismal, especially since it put us 45min to an hour north of everything we’d booked for entertainment. That added a lot of driving around North Myrtle Beach, which for whatever reason is nearly always a slog.

For the price, it’s a good room, with easy, close access to the beach and plenty of parking. The locals were nice, and the maintenance guys were very friendly. The stairs will give you a workout, so try to get everything up in as few trips as possible. I highly recommend it.

The ocean views were wonderful, and I liked seeing security patrol whenever I went outside. We had a good time and would come back. Our third-floor room meant lots of stairs, though, and there was no laundry room on that floor like on the first two. The air conditioning was so loud it took most of the week to get used to sleeping with it. The cleaning fee felt high for the work done: we found trash under the bed and a very personal bedroom toy left in the bedside drawer. The Fourth of July fireworks were great. It was cozy, though definitely not luxurious.

The beachfront was great, with a quiet setting, plenty of parking, and a safe feel. The place is a little dated, but renovations are underway, so that was fine.
