Waipani by Elliott Beach Rentals

The parking lot was tiny, one-way, and hard to maneuver in with a truck. To reach our space, we had to drive around behind the whole building, and some dumpsters were a long way from certain condos. Parking was a mess: twice during our vacation, someone took our space, including one person whose own spot had been taken. We had to ask them to move. Inside, the marijuana smell hit us as soon as we walked in and kept coming through the walls from other units whenever we returned. The walk to the beach was actually decent, and the OD arcade was only a few minutes away, but 6th Avenue is busy right beside the condo. The pool got crowded at times, and the deep end was full of leaves. There are only two staircases per section, and they can get very busy. The floors and walls are thin, so the people above us sounded like elephants at night, and we could hear people on the stairs day and night. It was very annoying.

The unit and its parking lot are both small, and trucks or SUVs will have trouble with the tiny lot. We rented through Coastal Condos. When I told the first maintenance man about the weed smell, he said they must be having a good time. He didn't seem concerned and acted as if it were normal. The dryer didn't work; it took ages for someone to come fix it, and they did so while we were out. But when we came back, the marijuana stench hit us again. It was everywhere, as if every neighbor was smoking: on the stairs, patio, in the pool, and even coming through the walls. If you have asthma or other breathing problems, or have children, I wouldn't recommend staying here. We would've reported the smell, but the realtor, Shane, looked like he indulged too. In the office, Melissa felt the need to tell us her life story before checking us in, including her knee replacement and a car accident involving a motorcyclist where she saw "body parts flying everywhere." She said this in front of my teenage sister. It was inappropriate and none of our business. Again, I don't think this is a place for children.

The beach was so close, which made us ecstatic. My son, one of his friends, and I just got back from a week at the condo. It was very well kept, and everything was in perfect condition. What a wonderful vacation!

The location is great, right across the street from the ocean, but the two-bedroom units are small and dated. The building went up in 1982 and still feels like it, so it needs renovation and updating. The parking lot is extremely tight. Unless you're driving something smaller than a Prius, maneuvering there will be difficult.
