Blue Spruce Motel

The doors on the room they gave me wouldn't lock from outside, so choose somewhere else if you need to leave the motel and care about your safety. They also charged me an extra $26 that I hadn't agreed to, then ignored my request for it back and left me sorting out the mess with my bank. I sent the paperwork for my dog to Stephanie, so why would I do that if the $26 refund hadn't been agreed to? When I called to confirm whether they'd do the right thing, the woman cursed me out. I'll delete this if they return my money.

We were traveling through as a family and expected to wind up at a sketchy motel, but we were wrong. The place felt warm and inviting, almost like home, and the owner was so nice. It was very clean and smelled great, nicer than some five-star hotels I've stayed in and paid much more for. If I pass through again, I know where I'm staying.

The room was fairly recently remodeled, and I got the last one available. It wasn't very warm, but the covers were lovely and warm. I'd recommend the place and would return when I'm in the area.

The rate was great since we were in town for Nebraskaland Days. On my way to the hotel, they called to say they were fully booked for the concert and couldn't hold our room unless I put a card on file and arrived before 1 p.m. I wasn't happy about that. I made it in time, but even though I'd already paid, they wouldn't give me a key before the 3 p.m. check-in. We came back at three and had to call someone to come to the office with the key. The room was homey and nice, but it was horrifically hot, so I asked for a fan. We slept pretty well despite the broken inside doorknob. When we went to check out in the morning, the office was empty. I understand it's a mother-daughter business, but not having anyone on site for check-in and checkout isn't good business practice. Aside from that, I'd probably stay again.
