Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Northfield

The rooms were very clean, and the staff stayed friendly throughout our visit. Check-in was delayed by a power issue, but the team kept us informed and made accommodations while they got things reorganized. We enjoyed our stay.

There was no hot water, and nobody mentioned that at check-in. They took our money without providing something as basic as hot running water. When I called the front desk the next morning, all I got was, “Sorry, we’re still trying to get someone to fix it.” This place seems interested in getting paid without taking care of its guests.

The staff made this stay for us. I needed a quiet place to work away from my family, and the front desk let me use the board room without asking any questions. They also responded quickly to our housekeeping requests and were friendly every time. When we had to leave early to get ahead of a winter storm, they accommodated the change without trouble. We were in Northfield to tour Carleton College with our two teens. The property felt fresh and clean, and the underground parking with four EV charging stations was especially useful for Minnesota winters or rainy weather. We’d stay here again if we come back to Northfield.

I’m staying here now, and there’s no hot water at all. When I asked the front desk about it, the woman working said, “Yeah, we’ve been having some issues with that.” No apology or offer to make things right, just her manager’s card. I called the manager and got no answer. I understand maintenance problems happen, but the staff need customer service training for handling situations like this.
