Delta Hotels by Marriot Denver Thorntorn

I liked the bedroom, and having a water refill station in the ice room on my floor was a nice extra. I was here for a convention, and the venue is beautiful, especially the ballroom level. The one thing that left me puzzled happened when I was out with the do not disturb sign on my door. I came back to find fresh towels folded on the toilet, in an unusual spot, while the rest of the room hadn’t been touched. The next day, housekeeping came in and cleaned as expected. I’m still not sure why someone entered the day before.

The location worked really well for me, with a mountain view and plenty of places nearby to eat and drink. I found a good rate through the Marriott Bonvoy app, and the bed was comfortable and the room clean. Still, after two years visiting the Orlando area, I’m not sure I’d choose this hotel again. I hadn’t realized when booking that it was also a convention center. A dance competition was underway when I arrived Saturday, so parking was hard to find. I tried to check in early but was told the hotel was booked for the event. When I returned later, nobody acknowledged my membership until I was looking at the Marriott sign, and I wasn’t offered the food voucher included with my reservation as a member. I’d booked an executive king suite, but I couldn’t tell what made the room executive or a suite. It was small, as was the bathroom. There was no microwave, and the fridge had to be switched on every two hours. The lobby bistro staff were pleasant when I went for coffee the first morning. They made my drink just right, and the chia seed fruit yogurt was good too. The lobby sign said it closed at noon, but when I went around 11:30 there was nobody there. The front desk receptionist said they might need to change the sign because the bistro staff usually leave by 11:30. I spent some time on the nice little terrace. I’d meant to use the pool but didn’t get around to it; I did look at it, and it seemed clean, with a pretty big hot tub. It was an okay stay.

I only came for the convention, so I didn’t stay overnight, but the place seemed nice. The lobby is huge, and the staff were very helpful. It’s right off I25, with lots of restaurants nearby. Looks like a handy spot for a night while passing through.

The King suite felt a lot smaller than I’d pictured once I got inside, so I couldn’t give it five stars. Still, it’s a very nice place to stay. The facility was clean and well organized, the fitness room was awesome, and staff welcomed me warmly. Shops and places to eat are within walking distance.
