The Cottages at Harvey Lake

The cottage was cute, rustic but functional, and the little lake was great for kayaking since there wasn’t much boat traffic. Fishing was good, the small beach was nice, and we met some fun people and shared drinks. The downside was the noise. Rt 4 is busy and close to the cottages, and a dog a few houses away barked a lot. Someone said it belonged to one of the owners, but I don’t know. It was annoying and disruptive when we were trying to relax, and I’d hate to live nearby full time. It was a surprise weekend for me.

The hostess was quick to respond and very accommodating about my allergies. The amenities worked, and the cottages are adorable, with a screened porch and a little beach just steps from the door. One heads-up for the blue cottage: there’s not much room on either side of the toilet.

I had the pink cabin, right by the water, with a great view. There’s a lock on both the inside and outside of the screen door, so I could keep my pets in without worrying. The boats and beach are just about 10 feet away as you walk around the cabin. The cabin was clean, and despite being pet friendly, it had no smells at all. It’s a simple place with lots of charm, and extremely pet friendly. The owner greeted me and Simon, my kitty son, and welcomed us with a mug. I went to NH for the NASCAR race and found this place about a month ahead of time. I’m looking forward to coming back next year with Simon.

We loved the quiet getaway my husband picked. The view was great, the rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. We even got a coffee mug. I’d definitely recommend the location and we’ll come back.
