Red Roof Inn Norwich

We canceled our reservation and requested a full refund because we felt this was a safety and fire trap. The first-floor bathrooms were locked because street walkers were entering the building. A local business told us this facility had a large number of homeless individuals. There were long-term “tenants” with very large dogs, including huge German Shepards. The fire control panel was not operable or hooked up, and it wasn’t tagged by the fire marshal for inspection. All the fire doors were propped open. We were told this was because “handicapped people in wheelchairs can’t open heavy doors.” The receptionist said they “safely fire walls interior & exterior every 30 minutes” and showed us a “report,” but it was blank, with no dates, times, or signatures. We saw no safety measures in place.

Eileen made check-in easy and shared great local tips for dining and attractions, including pointing out the useful brochures in the lobby. Abby deserves thanks too. I felt bad walking across the floors she was mopping, but even with storm salt coming in from outside, she kept the lobby spotless. Andrew saved the day at 3:00 a.m. when my phone deactivated my key card, and Brendan at the front desk was friendly. I stay in hotels often, and this one was a game-changer after a disappointing nearby Hilton stay that cost nearly $200 a night, including a $75 pet fee for my ESA. This property is nicer and cleaner, and the staff’s professionalism is on a completely different level. It’s clear they take pride in their work. I’d give them 10 stars if I could, and I’ll definitely be back.

Andrew at the front desk was first class, professional, and wonderful. I also had no trouble getting a full refund for the unused nights when I had to return to NYC unexpectedly, in line with the 24 hour cancellation policy. The room was so quiet, and I got the best sleep I’ve had in ages. The bed was incredible, with a luxury mattress and crisp, clean cotton sheets. The bathroom was spotless, the shower was gloriously hot, and the AC worked perfectly for keeping the room very cold. I was seriously impressed with Red Roof and would gladly stay again whenever I’m up here. Thanks, Andrew and Red Roof!

It was my first visit to a Red Robin, and I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices were, especially during graduation week when they hadn’t been raised. The room was fine and had both a microwave and fridge, which I always appreciate. The property was clean, with plenty of parking, and being close to everything made getting around easy when I didn’t know the area.
