Sonesta Select Detroit Novi

I spent about two weeks at the Sonesta Select and would gladly stay again. The rooms were kept up well, the hotel was quiet, and there were stores all around. Check-in was quick, and the whole staff was friendly and easy to talk with. My one gripe is that breakfast isn’t available on weekends.

For four nights in August, I paid about half what nearby hotels were charging. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the internet handled my work and meetings well. The shower had good pressure and temperature, the AC got very cold, and the front desk staff were friendly. First Watch and Walmart are close by for breakfast or snacks. I’d stay again.

The TV only worked about half the time, and several things in the room were broken, including lamps, lights, and outlets. There was thick dust behind the nightstands, and the nightstand and dresser drawers were filthy. The bathroom was dirtier than the public lobby restrooms. The room and the hotel generally felt filthy, and there was no microwave or fridge, which I wouldn’t expect at this price. Check-in took far too long for no clear reason, and the room was a mess when I finally got in. I’ve stayed in cleaner, more comfortable Motel 6s and Red Roof Inns. This was one of my worst hotel stays. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Crystal at the Sonesta Select Novi spent 45 minutes patiently working through a problem with my Booking.com reservation and made sure it was fixed properly. Her persistence, professionalism, and real willingness to help made a stressful situation much easier. She’s a real asset to the hotel. Thank you, Crystal!
