River Ranch at Cedar Shore

The bed was seriously comfortable, and the spot could be handy if you have a boat. That was about it. There were repair tools under the bed, hair on the bathroom floor, and dirty towels under the sink. Our unit wasn’t cleaned until after 5 pm, and although the desk asked for a number to call us, the night staff never got the message. They also put a $50 hold on the debit card, which may linger depending on your bank. The AC took hours to cool the room, and anyone over 5 ft 3 in has to kneel to get under the shower head. No room phone, plus an uncovered outlet right behind the bed near the frame. Then a drunk grandma had police pounding on our door at 0230, wrecking my sleep. I’m still sour about it. In the immortal words of Chris Carter, “C’Mon Man!” Maybe bring a tent, a camper, or try the local sheriff’s drunk tank instead.

For just one night, it wasn’t too bad. The rooms were fairly comfortable, and staff were helpful when an online booking total didn’t show up on their end and we nearly got charged extra. Bringing the confirmation email with the original total helped get it corrected. Our TV didn’t work, but someone came right away and tried to fix it. Since they couldn’t get it working that night and we were only staying one night, they gave us a discount.

We were in the secondary log “cabins,” and several things didn’t match the listing. The beds weren’t queens, and there weren’t enough outlets for the lamp, microwave, and coffee maker, so we had to pick one. The outlet only worked when the light switch was on, too. The coffee maker still had water left by the previous guests, and the AC gave off a moldy smell. The indoor pool was at the main hotel, a 1/4 mile away, and the wi-fi was maybe a 2G connection.

Curt, the “Director of first impressions,” didn’t make a very impressive hospitality representative. The rooms in the main hotel were not terrible.
