Gateway Inn

It's an older place and definitely needs updating, though the area was convenient for visiting family. The room was over 80 degrees by my rough guess, and the thermostat wouldn't shut off. I walked to the office for help. The woman hesitated, said maybe she could move me, then trailed off because I had a dog. She told me to open the window and turn on the air conditioner. I'd been driving since early morning and just wanted to sleep, but it was too hot, so I was awake for hours trying to cool down with wet cloths. I won't stay there again.

There are cute paintings around the parking lot, a bear by the curb, and colorful lights all around at night. The place has a bit of personality. The location is decent, though turning left onto 95th street is tough. Our room was cheap and clean, with two beds, hot water, and no bugs that we saw. I'd call it a decent 1-star hotel. The A/C was freezing when we got in, so we turned it off. A unit that could hold a set temperature might save them a buck.

I was happy to find this affordable place near Midway Airport. I stayed in room 23, which was absolutely incredible: spacious, with a refrigerator, and a bed I slept well in. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. I'll definitely come back.

The owners are nice, the rates are reasonable, and breakfast is served every morning. It's down the street from a few fast food places, and from what I've seen the other residents aren't rude or loud. My issues besides the Wi-Fi were fixed in a timely way. The Wi-Fi isn't great, but I'd definitely recommend staying here.
