Holiday Inn Express and Suites Chicago West Oak Park by IHG

I arrived at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chicago–Oak Park expecting it to be open. There was no sign saying otherwise, the lobby looked accessible, and nothing suggested the property was closed or restricted. I walked around looking for help, then approached someone in street clothes with no name tag or other sign they worked there. When I politely asked for assistance, they responded rudely and dismissively. The encounter escalated, and the person, who I believe may have been the owner or general manager, shoved me. That was inappropriate and unprofessional. Even if the hotel was closed or operating limited hours, that doesn’t justify hostility or physical contact with someone who reasonably thought it was open. At the very least, there should have been clear signage. No guest should feel unsafe or face physical aggression in a hospitality setting. Given how serious this was, I’m considering my options. I can’t recommend this property, and management should address its communication and conduct standards immediately.
