Jerry's Motel Of Oakdale

Jerry's turned out to be a great place for my sister to stay while she was in Oakdale, California. She needed somewhere to go, and I’m really glad she found it. It was good in an emergency, and I imagine it would be good at other times too.

I stayed in room 8 from July 1-8, 2025, and paid $550. The room was clean when I arrived, and since I didn’t need daily housekeeping, I never asked for it. When I needed a broom, the staff lent me one. The large, comfortable bed was nice, and there was WiFi and Dish Network TV. The patio had tables and chairs. The kitchen has plenty of cabinet space, a large refrigerator, microwave, and gas stove/oven. It’d work well for a long stay, especially if you bring your own kitchen items. I didn’t bring any.

The price was way too high for a room that was supposed to be under renovation. We had a leaking toilet, a tub that wouldn’t hold water and had no plug, and a broken glass cover over the fan light that was missing. It felt like this place should have been finished and fixed before it opened. The laundry was another problem. They did it at one in the morning, and apparently thought that was normal. The dryer got off balance and banged against our wall so loudly. I have a video. There were also huge bags and garbage cans full of sheets and towels sitting by our little table and chair near the door. Laundry was on both sides of our door, and the bags stayed there the whole time we were there. It looked tacky and uninviting. Our air conditioner was really loud too and could use an upgrade. The new owners would take naps between guests without anyone covering for them. I had to ring the bell twice before someone came. She said she was sorry, she’d just woken up from a nap. I’ve stayed in lots of places, and this was one of the worst days I’ve had.

The manager greeted us with a smile after I rang the office bell. She’d actually been cleaning our room when we arrived, and it was one of the cleanest motel rooms I’ve stayed in. She was extremely friendly, too. I hope she’s being paid for all that hard work and her lovely attitude. The motel’s lucky to have her, since at first glance the place doesn’t look like much.
