Mountain Trail Lodge & Vacation Rentals

We left right away and went to Best Western. The room smelled like mold, and the sheets were filthy, with hairs from several people. Towels were draped over the toilet and looked dirty, with a long hair on them. I’d been looking forward to the pool after a long drive, but it wasn’t working and had trash around it. Even the parking lot made the place look abandoned. I should have read the reviews before booking. Do not go here.

It’s tucked snugly into Oakhurst, with beautiful views from the rooms. The rooms are good, though they’d be even better with a more modern look. For the relaxing, peaceful quiet the place offers, the price was reasonably good.

The property felt like it was falling apart, and I didn’t feel safe there. There was a leak in the bathroom wall, and the living room window seemed one bump away from falling out. I found the supposedly clean towels dingy and the bed sheets dirty, though luckily I brought my own towels, pillows, and blankets. No one was ever in the office. I was told the room would be unlocked and the key left inside, but it wasn’t there. When I called, they said it wasn’t a big deal, and I had to insist on getting a key. The place was very dirty. Worst stay ever, and I can’t believe it’s allowed to stay open. Stay away.

After a long drive from Orange County to Yosemite, we checked in at Yosemite mountain trail lodges and were assigned room 5. It was cold and smelled musty. Within seconds we could tell how dirty it was: there was a dark hair on the bed, the sheets were stained, and the towels were dirty and discolored. We went back to the desk after about five minutes to complain. The gentleman wasn’t very helpful. He offered another room, but I wanted a refund, which he wouldn’t authorize, and told us to contact booking.com, where we had booked. My friend from the UK felt her chest tighten just minutes after entering the room, as if something was affecting her chest, possibly from the air conditioning unit. She had to use an inhaler to stop it becoming a full asthma attack. I booked this lodge because they accept service animals, and I didn’t want either of us or my service animal to become unwell. After we left, we all started scratching. We had to quickly book another hotel at extra expense and bag and seal all our clothes until we get home to boil-wash everything.
