Boardwalk Terrace Apartments

The photos on the booking site showed a tan building, but when we arrived we found the blue one on the boardwalk. The room photos weren’t accurate either, they showed a penthouse or another hotel. The place smelled moldy, the balconies were falling apart, and the third-floor front balcony felt dangerous. We couldn’t work out why there were so many fruit flies and gnats until we found a very moldy old piece of fruit by the TV stand. Disgusting. The shower wouldn’t drain properly, only two outlets worked in the whole apartment, and the fridge light was broken. Guests have to bring nearly everything themselves, so these things should be fixed. The woman who drives a white SUV was very rude and ignorant. The price was ridiculous, and I absolutely don’t recommend staying here. Booking has it rated 7.3, which seems far too high to me.

The location really was the best part, just steps from the beach and boardwalk. Elio, a young employee, was also very kind and helpful. Our parking spot wasn’t available because the previous guests had overstayed, and he went out of his way to help us. The owner, though, made us feel unwelcome from the start. The hotel had asked us to change our reservation date, which we did, but then he called us an inconvenience for booking one night and arriving early. We’d been told early parking would be available. At check-in, one of the room’s AC units wasn’t working. When we reported it, the owner yelled at us on the phone. He later argued heatedly with my sister and accused us of tripping the breaker, even though the AC wasn’t working when we first entered. His aggressive manner and profanity upset the children in our group, and we truly felt unsafe. Elio and the location were great, but the owner’s confrontational behavior ruined the stay. We won’t return and can’t recommend the property.

After reading the awful reviews, I canceled my reservation right away. Alma then texted that I’d lose my deposit, which was the full reservation charge, even though Booking.com had emailed me saying the cancellation was free. Alma yelled and acted aggressively on the phone before finally agreeing to a partial refund, while still keeping a “processing fee.” Alma and Angelo were rude, combative, and unprofessional. The customer service was terrible. I wonder how they’re still in business. No surprise the reviews are so bad. Don’t book here.

We had a balcony with a gorgeous beach view, and being right on the boardwalk was great. The rooms were clean and beautiful, the beds very comfortable, and the staff super friendly and accommodating. It’s pet-friendly too. Elio made our stay and anniversary perfect. We’re making this our vacation spot every anniversary.
