Cayman Suites Hotel

The guy at the front desk was friendly, but everything else was awful. The place was filthy and overpriced, inside and out. The bathroom mirror had toothpaste on it, the faucet had dried white crust on it, and the floors hadn't been vacuumed, mopped, or cleaned. There was mold in the shower, black hairs and stains on the toilet, and what looked like body-fluid marks on the office chair. The kitchen and its floor had black spots and dirt. The room smelled like a dying corpse, and my allergies and headaches got worse right away. Half the lights and outlets didn't work, so finding one to charge our phones was a guessing game. There weren't outlets near the beds, and the AC didn't cool properly, leaving the room hot. This was disgusting. I hate leaving such a negative review, but people should know. Cayman suites is not a suite. It was a dumpster fire, and it needs a major renovation and cleaning staff retraining or replacement.

The hotel was affordable and decent, and I'd stay again, though I prefer being closer to the boardwalk and will probably pick somewhere else for that reason. It was near a bus stop, a grocery store, and other convenient stores, and close to the beach, though far from the boardwalk. My room was spacious, clean, and had a kitchenette with dishes. The indoor pool was nice, and the front desk was helpful and available. The pullout couch was awful, so we used the couch itself. The elevator kept breaking, but they repaired it quickly. We stayed five nights with five people. I don't mind housekeeping not coming into the room, but I had to track them down for towels they never brought, then get towels from the front desk. I also had to take out the trash myself and ask for more bags. The hotel wasn't musty or as dated as some others I've tried nearby.

Nickita the manager was helpful, David was very helpful during my short stay, and the front desk gentleman responded quickly. My complaint isn't about any of them. I checked in a few hours earlier, left, and returned around 8:30. While sitting on the bed eating soup and fries, I spotted a large gray mouse moving along the baseboard, which sat high, about a foot off the ground. I threw away the fries and ran downstairs. The clerk called the manager and offered me another room, but I refused and wanted to leave with a full refund. When I checked in, I'd thought there were dead ants in the drawers and even on the bed. Now I realize they were mouse droppings.

The suite was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and housekeeping were wonderful: friendly, attentive, and consistently made the room welcoming. Their kindness really stood out. But a front desk employee made our extended stay stressful and left us feeling unwelcome. Her manner was dismissive and unhelpful from the start. When I came down to extend our stay, she brushed me off and said I was good to go. About an hour later, as I was getting ready to take my four children to the pool and beach, she threatened to kick us out and call the property manager. It was her mistake, but she never apologized. I contacted the property manager and never heard back. She also wouldn't acknowledge me or my children when we had questions. Her customer service was despicable, and she shouldn't be allowed to treat guests that way. For a stay longer than one night, staff treatment matters as much as the room. Housekeeping made us feel valued, but the front desk experience overshadowed a lot of the good. Cayman Suites has potential, and the rooms and housekeeping were enjoyable, but management needs to address the front desk experience. With the right changes there, this could be a five-star stay.
