Flamingo Motel

We’d booked a room just for showers, not an overnight stay, and the staff expected us to pay for additional people even after we explained the situation. The front desk was unhelpful, and nobody was there for 15 minutes while a line formed. They didn’t take responsibility for the delay. They could improve by taking customer service courses and studying case examples to create better experiences. Until then, do yourself a favor and choose one of the other nearby hotels. Maybe by summer 2026 they’ll acknowledge and learn from their mistakes.

The location is ideal, but the room had mold on the ceiling, the hallway smelled of cigarettes, and several lights and the hair dryer didn’t work. Nobody was at the desk when we arrived at peak check-in time. After we called the main number and waited, someone eventually came, then argued with another customer in front of everyone and evicted them on the spot. There weren’t clear checkout instructions either, so I hope I did it all right.

We had a nice ocean view from the balcony, and the basic room was clean and comfortable. When we reported a clogged sink, staff fixed it promptly. The TV internet reception, though, was terrible and buffered constantly, to the point of being really irritating. On my third morning, the lobby had run out of sugar for the coffee, and I told the clerk. At 7:30 the next morning, they were out of both sugar and coffee. The clerk said the manager was bringing more, but by 9:20, when I checked out, it still hadn’t arrived. Coffee and sugar seem like basic things that should be monitored and restocked. It may sound minor, but it felt like nobody cared about guests’ comfort.

We stayed Friday and Saturday in a double bed ocean view room in tower 2. It was quiet, with no noise from other guests, and the AC worked well. The beds were comfy and the pillows so good I looked them up online because I need them. The carpet wasn’t soaking wet like some reviews said, and I saw no bugs, though a fly did get in. The room was set to 60, so it got cold. There’s only a sheet on the bed, so bring a blanket or ask for one. The shower took about a minute or two to warm up, which worried me at first, but it was fine by the second shower. The bathroom is clean but outdated compared with the rest of the room. One towel had a dark gray-black stain, like makeup had rubbed off on it. I didn’t mind, but some people might. On Saturday night we had to park on the street because there were no spots.
