Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel by Wyndham Ocean City Oceanfront

I couldn't get connected to the wifi, and although staff sincerely tried to help, the problem wasn't fixed while I was there. Still, this is an affordable, pleasant off-season stay, and I used the hot tub several times. I'd consider returning. I had a sideview room for three nights, with a view of both the ocean and the bay. It had two full beds and was noticeably smaller than the king room with a sofa bed I'd stayed in last year, but it was enough for me. One bed was closer to the sliding door and the view, so I slept there and enjoyed seeing and hearing the ocean.

We had an oceanview room with a balcony, plus a microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker. The staff checked in to see if we needed anything and quickly brought extra towels, blankets, and coffee. There's also an indoor pool and hot tub, free parking, and the hotel is pet friendly. The rooms were renovated and clean, and the price and location are great. It's right on the boardwalk near 12th street, and less than a mile from Trimpers and the busier part of OC. There are plenty of nearby places to eat and shop. Subway, a lemonade shop, Brass Balls pub, and BadAss Cafe are next door, and the lobby has a small bar and restaurant. Bad Monkey, Happy Jack's, Food Lion, CVS, 7-11, and Rofo are within a 5-10 minute drive, with more restaurants and conveniences a short walk or drive away. This isn't a Hilton-style place: there are only two elevators, the bathrooms are tiny, and there's no room service. It may not suit people in their 20s who want to be in the middle of the club scene. For families and seniors, it's a good fit. It had everything we wanted, including a hot tub, boardwalk location, pet-friendly rooms, free parking, and a reasonable price. We'd absolutely stay again.

We'd definitely recommend this Howard Johnson and stay again. The rooms were bright and had no carpet, which I loved, and my son especially enjoyed the ocean-view balcony. Everything was neat and clean, and the room suited our weekend stay. Our first visit here exceeded what we expected.

We had a really enjoyable family stay. The staff were friendly, the hotel was comfortable and clean, and it welcomed our cocker spaniel. Since it was winter, we used the indoor pool and spent lots of time walking along the boardwalk.
