Hyatt Place Ocean City / Oceanfront

The service was disappointing throughout our stay, especially from one front desk employee and an older blonde woman who was repeatedly rude. Our room had no heat the first night, leaving my 98-year-old grandmother freezing, and staff didn't respond with the urgency or care we expected. Housekeeping barely cleaned, our keys kept failing, and the door card reader stopped working completely, so we had to call maintenance a second time. Shower pressure was like a fire hose. Breakfast was processed food heated in a microwave, far below what I'd expect at a Hyatt. Staff also made us feel unwelcome over something as basic as sitting at a table with leftovers from the boardwalk. The older blonde employee came in like a hawk to make sure my wife and our two-year-old and one-year-old couldn't have a peaceful place to eat and rest. Even after all that, management only refunded one day of our seven-day stay. This wasn't what I expected from a Hyatt, and I wouldn't stay here again. There are probably better options.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well stocked, but noisy. The booking was very misleading because the hotel has bought the property across the street and is treating both as one hotel. A city-view room now looks over a six-lane road instead of a quiet side street, and getting to the beach means crossing traffic. I wouldn't recommend it for families with young children for that reason. Nearly all the amenities require crossing the street. The extension building has just one elevator for both staff and customers, and it's extremely slow, so be ready to use the stairs.

Olivia at the front desk made our visit memorable. She was professional, welcoming, and went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed from check-in onward. The complimentary hot breakfast had lots of choices, and we enjoyed the quiet, comfortable atmosphere along with both the indoor and outdoor pools. Our room was spotless and spacious, with a spectacular oceanfront balcony and beautiful morning views. The hotel sits right on the 16th Street boardwalk, making the beach and nearby restaurants and shops easy to reach. Hyatt Place Ocean City/ Oceanfront is now our favorite place in Ocean City, MD. We can't wait to return.

Olivia went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. The hotel is well kept by housekeeping and maintenance, and the breakfast was great. My wife and I will definitely be back. One thing I'd suggest: add screen doors to all the balcony rooms so guests can leave the patio door open at night if they want.
