A heads up if you’re short: I’m 5'3", and the platform beds were about 3.5 ft off the floor, around hip height. Also, the shower curtain didn’t keep water in, so it pooled on the floor by the tub. Our efficiency suite had plenty of space for our family of five, with 2 queen beds, a pullout sofa, 2 nice arm chairs, a desk, and a rolling office chair. The little kitchen had a sink, mini fridge, microwave, and small 2 burner electric cook top. The hotel was under construction in December 2025, but you wouldn’t have known as a guest. The rooms, hallways, lobby, and entrance had fresh paint in beautiful colors and new furnishings. The staff we met were pleasant and cheerful, and seemed to enjoy their work and each other. The weekend manager was especially pleasant, efficient, and ready to help.
The staff were friendly, which was the one good thing about our stay. We were there for the Oceans Calling music festival, and the floor in our room was sticky and dirty, like it hadn’t been swept or mopped in ages. The hallway by room 108 smelled like a dumpster. I looked for one on the ground floor and didn’t find it, but the smell seemed to come from the attached "restaurant" Oceans 13. It was disgusting, like old fryer oil mixed with bait left in the sun for days. The whole hotel looks worn out and needs cleaning from top to bottom. On the morning we checked out, there was a huge puddle in the hallway, with water dripping from an air vent. For what we paid for the "privilege" of staying in this dump, I expected a lot more.
The pool was nice and refreshing, though not deep, and it was easy to walk to the beach. Town buses run constantly to the boardwalk and other places. Breakfast had a few choices and was more than satisfying. We especially liked the delicious waffles from the waffle maker. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Everything else was perfect, but I wish there had been chairs on the balcony. I’d definitely stay again.
I arrived at 2am after a late drive and they made check-in easy. The staff across all 3 shifts were kind and expecting me. After sleeping in, they were accommodating about getting me checked out without any hassle. I’d recommend them to anyone visiting Ocean City. I hope I have time to try the breakfast and pool next time. I was making a quick trip from Christmas Con in Edison NJ on Friday night to Ocean City Con in Ocean City Maryland, with just a few hours to rest in between. LA Quinta helped me find an affordable room 2 mins from the convention.
We had a few decent things here: the parking is under the hotel, like a garage, so I felt my car was a little safer. There are bike racks, plus a tap by them to rinse sand off your feet or belongings before going inside. That’s about it. We would have switched hotels if we could, but we’re stuck toughing it out because this is a daytime, 3-day festival and other places had limited availability. We will NEVER book with La Quinta again. We picked this hotel for a 3-day festival, partly because breakfast was a big reason to stay 3 miles from the venue. That was a mistake. We arrived at 2am after travel delays, and check-in was fairly easy. Apparently, the room’s electricity isn’t turned on until it’s assigned. Our first room was like a sauna, so hot and humid I started sweating. The refrigerator had just been switched on and wasn’t cold, not much use when you have food that needs refrigeration. I called the desk and was told they’d try to adjust the temperature. Why does the front desk have control of my room? The patio door wouldn’t open or lock either. We changed rooms, but the second one had a leak between the toilet and shower. We put a towel there and tried to sleep after the 12-hour drive. I told the woman at the desk the air conditioner, fridge, and patio door not working was unacceptable. She agreed and said she’d leave a note for the manager. I’ve still heard nothing from anyone there. Breakfast on Saturday was a huge disappointment. The eggs tasted frozen, the potatoes tasted like nothing, and the only sausage was links, with a sign saying to take just 3. If I’m paying a lot for a room, there shouldn’t be a limit. There were plain and cinnamon raisin bagels, moldy bread, blueberry muffins, another kind of bread, and waffles. The waffle batter dispenser was empty, and one toaster and one waffle maker were broken. We could have stayed closer and sorted breakfast ourselves. I’d hoped breakfast would make the extra distance worthwhile. It did NOT. The free Wi-Fi kept kicking me off every 2-3 minutes. I called the desk again and got the same answer about leaving a note for the manager. After our first festival day, it was still unreliable, and the manager who was supposed to handle the issues wasn’t there or contacting us. We also found out the front desk controls the air conditioning, which feels like a violation, and we can’t set it below 65. I don’t necessarily want it colder, but the air is humid and stagnant, and I want it moving. I can set fan mode, but then it won’t switch to AC by itself if the temperature rises. A fan would have helped. Both beds squeak like crazy, and the sheets feel like the cheapest dollar store ones.
