Maridel Motel

What stood out most was how friendly the customer service was. You don’t come across that kind of warmth in many places now. I was after a cheap room and expected it to be rough, but it was in good shape and a great value. Some friends were staying two doors down at another motel and paid about four times as much. It’s right by the convention hall, or whatever it’s called, so it could work well if you’re in OC for an event.

The front desk gentleman was fantastic, and the place was very clean with no problems during our weekend. It’s still close to the boardwalk, about a five-minute drive. I’d pay a little more to stay here instead of booking one of the cheaper, nasty places on or right by the boardwalk. 10/10, no doubt I’d come back.

The pool area was clean and cute, a nice place to relax while my six-year-old played. I took him for a surprise end-of-summer trip and booked directly with Maridel Motel, which saved me money since I knew activities would add up. We spent the day at the beach before the 3 o’clock check-in, and that worked out perfectly. Check-in was easy, the front desk staff were pleasant, and I got the ground-floor room I’d requested. The hallway smelled clean, with no odd or cigarette odors. Our room had two queen beds, plenty of space for me and my son, and both the room and bathroom were spotless. The bed was comfortable too. I didn’t see enough towels at first, so I asked for more and got them without any fuss. I was so pleased that I’ll recommend Maridel in my OCMD Facebook group when people ask, and I’ll be back. Keep up the great work!

We needed a fairly cheap place to crash after a work party in town, and this worked great for me and my husband. The king room was roomy and comfortable, with a desk, microwave, fridge, and TV. It was really clean, the WiFi was excellent, and it stayed pretty quiet. We were there in May, before the main beach crowds, though. I’ll definitely look this place up again.
