Monte Carlo Boardwalk Oceanfront Ocean City

We had booked an oceanfront room for Thanksgiving night, but less than 24 hours before check-in they called to cancel, saying the hotel wouldn't open because there weren't many reservations. They moved us to another hotel, which had no oceanfront view, and didn't refund anything. The rooms here seemed to get dirtier each year we stayed, too. We won't be coming back.

The corner balcony facing the pier had a stunning view, and we spent a lot of the trip relaxing there. We also loved the rooftop pool, with incredible views of the ocean and bay. The hotel is close to everything on the boardwalk and just a few steps from the beach. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I do wish room service came more often without having to request it. The ceiling had lots of stains, though the rest of the room felt pretty clean. I'd stay again.

We couldn't get into our room for an hour after the lock broke. Staff called the manager, but he didn't answer during that whole time. We'd been walking for two hours and just needed to sit down, and came back to a room we couldn't access with staff who seemed not to care. The next day I spoke with the manager, J SOMETHING. He said he was tired, which was why he hadn't answered, but never apologized and was very rude. When I asked for some kind of discount, he said he couldn't do anything because we booked through booking.com. Terrible customer service. The room was okay but not very clean, and the lock issue ruined our night. They also NEVER GAVE ME MY DEPOSIT BACK OF 50, so BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a balcony with an ocean view overlooking the boardwalk, and shops and restaurants were close by. The Monte Carlo is a great place to stay, with fantastic staff. I highly recommend it.
