Nock Apartments

I put both keys in the drop-off box, but about 30 minutes later the owner's wife called, yelling that I hadn't left both. I told her I had and asked her to check the camera because I was sure. She refused, called me dishonest, and kept yelling. I was already far away but started back to the place. Then she called again to say she'd found the key. That's no way to treat customers.

We usually go to OCNJ every summer, and accidentally booking OCMD turned into an amazing long weekend. The location was great: you can walk right onto the boardwalk and beach, there's a convenience store around the corner, and CVS is about a 15-minute walk. Staff were friendly, genuine, and family-oriented. Our first-floor apartment was easy to manage with four kids, including our one-year-old in a stroller. The beach-themed one-bedroom was cute and spacious, with two full-size beds in the bedroom and two pullout couches. It worked great for our family of six. There was no Wi-Fi, which I actually appreciated because the kids got to enjoy the outdoors and we had an unplugged family weekend. A washer and dryer would be my one suggestion. They had a clothesline, which worked well, and the outdoor showers were a practical bonus for keeping sand out of the apartment. I was surprised by some of the mixed reviews. Nock Apartments gave us a great stay, and we'd plan another trip to OCMD and stay at Nocks again.

Please read the reviews and don't rent here. The advertised pictures don't match the units, and my daughter and the other kids on senior week found their apartments disgusting. They got sick, and after looking around found mold in the air-conditioning units in two separate apartments. Management called them liars and was belligerent when they tried to discuss it. They felt so awful they had to move to hotel rooms. Management called them liars again, and my daughter and several others left the premises. Others made their own decisions. When I called about my daughter, management used derogatory remarks toward me. They wouldn't talk with me and hung up, though they may respond to this review claiming they tried to contact me. I believe the most recent positive reviews were written by the owners to make the place look good. They were not professional with us. If you need to spend a little more, please go somewhere else. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT RENT. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

We left after about an hour, once we'd found somewhere else, and the desk lady refused to refund any of our money. She walked through the apartment with us when we checked out. We pointed to the mold, broken bed, dirt, and bugs, and she acted like nothing was wrong. I don't usually post reviews, but people considering Nock apartments should know what happened. The place was a huge disappointment from arrival. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and got upset that we brought our dog even though the property advertised itself as pet-friendly. That was half the reason we booked. The woman at the desk also listed extra fees for parking, pets, and other things that weren't on the website, payable only in cash. Parking was sparse and tight enough that one bad move could scratch or dent a car. The apartment was outdated and filthy, nothing like the pictures. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling, flies and bugs everywhere, and beds that felt like cardboard boxes. One bed was held together with duct tape and made a horrible groaning, grinding noise whenever someone sat on it, enough to keep everyone awake. We didn't expect anything incredible, but we weren't prepared for the extra cash-only charges either. Save your money for somewhere nicer. Don't waste your time.
