Princess Bayside Beach Hotel

The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and our room was clean when we arrived, with fresh-smelling sheets and towels. Dink from maintenance was courteous and quickly helped when the in-room hairdryer stopped working. The gentleman from housekeeping who replaced the smelly shower curtain was also polite and helpful; he confirmed the odor right away. Still, the overall upkeep didn’t match the rising room cost, especially since parking for one vehicle costs extra here. The lobby smelled unpleasant, and the bar wasn’t serving food. There was a strong odor like cat urine in the bar, which made it hard to imagine eating or having a drink there. Our room also seemed very outdated, and its curtains were torn. Plumbing was slow throughout the hotel. We were told to hold the toilet handle until the water reached the rim, and we had to keep checking that it had flushed. The sink and shower drained slowly as well, which was frustrating and caused delays. The elevators were small and slow, making it hard to maneuver the luggage cart. With no carts to haul our things up or down, we kept going up and down four flights of stairs. In the bathroom, the shower curtain smelled bad enough that we asked housekeeping to replace it. We’re not sure we’d return, but wanted to share the feedback in hopes the hotel improves things for future guests.

The kitchen was full sized and even had pots and pans for the stove, which I hadn't expected. We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the bathroom was clean too, with plenty of towels and washcloths.

We booked for three people and got only two towels and washcloths. When I asked for more, the two towels I received had what looked like someone’s Cheeto-covered fingerprints on them. The desk woman seemed annoyed when I asked for a replacement and gave me just one towel. Then I opened a washcloth that had been hanging on the rack and found it had already been used. I nearly threw up and almost cried. The bath mat looked like it had a big yellow urine stain, as if it had been used as a pee pad. I feel sick in this filth and can’t wait to leave.

The beachfront location was great, and the staff were nice. The building is very old and maintenance is below par. The rooms were terrible and the hotel wasn't the cleanest, though it was comfortable enough.
