Sahara Motel

The beachfront patio was great, the location is good, and the manager was pleasant when we arrived at 8:30 pm. He helped us get an ocean view room and later gave a small refund for the food that got damaged. I had stayed here with my son in 2024 and left with a good impression, so choosing it again in 2025 was easy. This time, though, the room seemed mostly tidied by the previous guests. The rollaway cot was a bad choice, its mattress was ragged and the frame looked a bit rusty. By morning, ants had gotten into our grocery and snack bag. At the office I was told the manager would be in around 1, and an employee used Google Translate to come spray for ants. Then it was one problem after another: too few charging outlets, old dirty carpet, a slow drain clogged with hair, no cleaning for three days, and a key or door that stopped working. The desk clerk was rude and couldn't fix the door or do anything about the food. When I asked about a late checkout, she got snippy. I would have recommended this place before, but I can't anymore.

The location is wonderful, but the motel's quality has gone downhill. There weren't any dishes in the efficiency, though there always used to be. Ants covered the counter area, and I found a cockroach in the vanity sink. The floor was so dirty I had to put towels down, and our feet turned black from walking on it. That's not okay with a crawling baby. I'm looking for somewhere else that cares about the guest experience.

The location is fantastic, and the service was friendly. The ceiling in the room looked like it had been redone, and whoever did that work did a very good job. The doors need replacing, though, since a lot of light came around one, and the beds felt springy. Even so, I'd stay there again.

I was still in the hospital when my getaway dates arrived, after being admitted three days before the stay. I tried multiple times to contact them in advance to cancel and reschedule, but only got voicemail and nobody ever reached out. I missed the trip and was still charged. If zero stars were an option, that's what I'd give.
