The Mallard Apartments

The rooms were spacious, but dirty in general. The sheets were stained and smelled really bad. There was mold on the bed, around the hotel, and even in the fridge. They do not clean it. I bought my own Lysol and cleaned. On top of all that, they tried to charge me three times. I paid for two nights by credit card, and the charge had already come out, but they only applied it to one night. I ended up paying with my bank card too. Such a hassle, and a red flag right away.

The office was far from the apartment, and parking was away from the place too. The apartments are gross, old, and smelly, with peeling paint and carpet that looks, smells, and feels disgusting. There was a leak in the walls of the apartment below us. The office lady called to say it was our fault without coming out to investigate, then said, “oh well, these are very old.” The front office person wasn’t pleasant either. Never again. Don’t stay here.

It was reasonably priced and worked well for ten people to sleep. The bedrooms are a good size, there are two full bathrooms, and parking is available behind the apartment. The location is great. The kitchen and living room are small, but the enclosed porch is a nice-sized room with the table, and we could eat or play games there. My only complaint is that the filters and vents were really dirty, so we cleaned them ourselves.

The staff kindly upgraded us to a place around the corner at the Ocean City Lodge, all on one level, and we really appreciated that. We’d first booked the Mallard’s two-bedroom deluxe apartment, but it was on the second floor, and unloading meant parking at the back. That would usually be fine, but we had two grandchildren and our dog with us. The apartment was clean, but the cable and refrigerator weren’t working. I called the office, and the maintenance man and the owner’s husband came over. They brought a new smart TV and tried to connect it to the internet, but couldn’t. They offered to move us upstairs to another apartment on the third floor, which my husband wasn’t keen on, and then they graciously offered the Ocean City Lodge apartment instead.
