Ocean Isle Inn

The rooms and hotel aren’t luxury, but they’re clean, affordable, and good for a night’s rest. The furniture and rooms looked updated since our last visit, which was a nice surprise. The pools are well maintained, too. The location is amazing, and the staff are kind, helpful, and accommodating. The woman hosting breakfast is a treasure, so friendly and lovely that she makes everyone feel welcome. This was our second visit, and we’ll definitely come back.

We had an oceanfront room, and the balcony had a fantastic beach view. The staff were very friendly. The beds were the one downside: even a small move or sitting down made the box spring sound like thunder.

Jay was an exception at the front desk. He helped me more than once and was always pleasant. Some of the other check-in employees weren’t very welcoming, which is a shame when they’re your first impression of the hotel. The ocean view from the balcony was gorgeous if your room didn’t face the pool. But the connecting doors were a deal breaker for me. I was told every room connects to the one next door, and I could hear the neighbors coughing, laughing, talking, their phone ringing, and their TV. I could make out what they were watching and what their conversations were about. They didn’t seem particularly loud, just at a normal or even quiet volume. I wouldn’t stay here again because of the noise.

The breakfast was okay, but I was very disappointed that so many things didn’t work. The remote had no batteries when we took it to the front desk, and it still didn’t work the next afternoon. We had to change TV channels manually on the back of the set. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and there were problems with the TV, hot water, and coffee. The neighbors were very loud, coughing, shouting, drinking, slamming doors, and yelling from the balcony. We used towels to cover the door between our rooms. I wish motels would tell people how to behave, with no loud noise and some respect for neighbors.
