The Polynesian Resort

I’ve stayed here before, so I knew what to expect from the place itself. This time I accidentally booked the wrong date, which wasn’t a big deal, but the response at the desk was. The “Supervisor” told us to wait a few minutes, then eventually came over while we were sitting there. Once I explained we had a reservation, he said it was for another date and that they had no rooms. Yet there were only two cars in the lot, and when he answered the phone he told someone else rooms were available. We left and found a nicer place down the road with welcoming staff. The Polynesian gave us Bates Motel vibes, and I won’t stay again.

Our double room was comfortable, clean, and clearly well cared for. The rates seem to reflect that it’s an older hotel that could use some updates. There were some really loud groups crossing the parking lot around 8 pm, which could be a problem for small kids in rooms beside it. It quieted down after 10, though.

Clean, nice place with a lovely view, and the rates were cheaper than usual. Internet varied by room, but I found one that had all five bars. The hot water lasts about 15 minutes, then the supply refills quickly.

I was more than creeped out by Eric at the front desk. He kept staring at me from the moment I pulled in. Then the hot water quit while I was showering. Instead of simply moving me to another room, he asked how long I shower for. I was shocked he’d ask anyone that. He did give me a different room, then made another inappropriate comment about its bigger tank being for my long showers. It was late, I was more than three hours from home, and Expedia said there was nowhere else for me to go. The hotel refused to refund me, so I lost my money. I’m never coming back, and I’ll tell people to stay away from this awful, creepy place.
