Extended Stay America Oceansid

We were there because my BIL was getting married the next day, but we found roaches in the room. We smashed one and went downstairs to show a staff member. She said it happens and that some guests are dirty and bring them. That didn't make the situation any better. The rooms seemed unsafe too. A large mirror fell and hit my son on the head, and behind it were three big holes where it had been rehung too many times. The rooms were dirty and falling apart, with major maintenance and remodeling needed. The building smelled like weed, and the carpet was filthy. We asked for a full refund so we could leave. They said we'd have to be out by noon the next day for a full refund. It was 1am, our four children were asleep, and we also had to get ready for the wedding. We asked to check out at 2 instead of 12, but they refused, leaving us feeling forced to stay. Staff didn't seem embarrassed or bothered about the roaches or unsafe room, and they weren't very helpful. I'm going to contact Expedia and corporate to report what happened.

We've been staying here while our apartment is being remodeled, and it's been pretty quiet so far. There are lots of nice people staying here, and it's dog friendly. Sahara at the front desk is so nice and helpful, and she makes us smile whenever we walk in. She gives treats to our pups, and they love her too. The other staff are just as nice. We'll be sad when it's time to go home, but grateful for all the nice people we've met here.

The room is decent, but the amenities are old, and this is a 2-star hotel. The front desk staff need training in customer service. The night-shift woman and the man who answers the phone during the day weren't good at dealing with customers. That's their job, and it was absolutely unacceptable. If they don't like the work, maybe they should be in another field. Please retrain the front desk staff or fire them. And please make sure workers don't enter rooms when guests have asked them not to. They really need better customer service training.

I stayed at Extended Stay for a while, and the place was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and professional, and the atmosphere made it easy to feel at home. I'd definitely recommend this location.
