Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Gambrills

There are several restaurants within walking distance, and the prices were reasonable. It has more of a business-hotel feel than a fancy one, but it was clean, nicely decorated, and the beds were really comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast is served in the morning, including a waffle machine, and coffee is available all the time. There’s also an exercise room, two computers at the front desk, and coin-operated washers and dryers on two floors. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

That noon checkout was a real plus for us, and you can request to stay until 3 p.m. for a fee if it’s available. We were in town overnight for my daughter’s dance team performance, since home is a bit far away. The night desk attendant was attentive and nice, though I’m sorry I forgot his name. Our top-floor room had two queen beds, a clean, spacious bathroom where my superstar could get ready, and a nice view. WiFi stayed connected without any trouble. Breakfast hit the spot too: I had a waffle, coffee, yogurt, and a banana. I’d come back here and try other Microtels in the future.

There’s plenty to do around here, so I’ll be coming back. You can shop or eat within walking distance, catch a movie, go bowling, or try an escape room. There’s even a sports bar across the street in the shopping center if you want to watch a game.

The front desk staff were so friendly and great, and I felt bad for them because the hotel was so underprepared. We’d booked a two-queen room two months ahead, but at arrival they said only a king was left. There were four of us, so shouldn’t we have gotten the room we reserved? We tried to make the pullout couch work, but when we asked for pillows and sheets, they had none, and there weren’t any blankets either. We had to take bedding from the king bed to use on the couch. Just had to scrape by. 1/10.
