The bed was okay, and breakfast was okay too, but the sink wouldn't drain properly. The place felt dated and dirty, and it had a stale, dirty smell. I kept my flip flops on the whole time except when I got into bed. They really need to put some money into this motel.

We only stayed because our kids were exhausted, and I do believe the bedding had been changed after we pulled the blankets back. On our way home from Tennessee, we'd stopped here around 10 p.m. to get some rest. The first room still had a used soap bar and someone's old tacos in the microwave. I reported it at the desk, and the night auditor did try to fix things by moving us to another room that looked cleaner at first. But there was hair left in the shower, and a closer look showed the surfaces hadn't been properly cleaned. Avoid it if you can.

There's not much around unless you're driving on I-39 or I-80, which are both just moments away. For dinner, Blue Margaritas authentic Mexican restaurant is right across the parking lot, and it really is the real deal. The property itself was very clean and comfortable. If you're traveling with a dog, the lush, well-kept grassy areas around the hotel are great for a walk or letting your pet run a little.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a generous spread of eggs, bacon, yogurt, waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, breads, muffins, and cereals. The bed was comfortable, though on the firm side. The room had fresh paint, modern furniture, and new flooring, but the bathroom looked dated and the shower had visible mold or mildew. The air conditioner was very loud, and by morning my wife and I both had scratchy throats, so we suspected the filter hadn't been cleaned recently. Check-in was fairly quick, but the front desk staff were noticeably unwelcoming when we arrived. The same person was there at checkout, still not very friendly or communicative, and we got very little interaction. We weren't given a receipt, which seemed unusual. We were traveling to Michigan and needed a budget place to sleep for one night, but based on this stay we'd probably choose somewhere else next time.
