Super 8 by Wyndham Okawville

There was an odd smell in both the room and the hallway, and the room only had curtains, with no privacy blinds. We also had to ring the bell for help because nobody seemed to be at the front desk. Unless you have no other choice, I’d spend a little extra and find a better hotel.

The bed was clean and comfortable, and check-in was fast with a friendly woman at the front desk. There’s plenty of room to park trucks and trailers out back. This is a budget-friendly Super 8 with quick access to I64 and several places to eat within walking distance. The hallway carpet needs a deep clean, though, and the shower took ages to get even somewhat hot. Water pressure wasn’t great either. Your mileage may vary.

It’s a quiet place for the night, close to the highway and a few spots to eat. The room was clean, the front desk was friendly, and the shower got nice and hot. Pets are welcome for a $15 fee. Nothing fancy, but it was perfectly decent.

At check-in, nobody was at the desk even though our reservation said we’d arrive after 10 p.m. I rang several times without anyone showing up, then found the hotel’s number and called. Someone finally came out of the back room to help. The staff also seemed bothered when we asked questions and weren’t very friendly. The bathroom fan was so loud it sounded like a propeller plane and clearly needed repair. Breakfast food wasn’t fresh. We were on a road trip with our teenagers. We’ve traveled around Southeast Asia and elsewhere, and our expectations aren’t especially high, but we do expect friendly service and fresh breakfast food. The room was only $80, but we didn’t feel it was worth the price.
